Why pigmentation fades in layers

The skin replaces a layer about every four weeks. Each visit lifts one.

Melasma, sun damage and the marks spots leave behind look alike and are not treated alike. They sit at different depths and have different triggers. The consultation maps where the colour sits and how deep it goes before anything is planned.

One layer at a time

The skin takes about four weeks to replace a layer. A peel or resurfacing step lifts one band of pigment; the next visit, a few weeks later, lifts the next. This is why a programme is a short series of visits rather than one strong session, and why the clinic never sells a single “miracle” session for deep pigmentation.

Timing and skin type

Freshly treated skin is more sensitive to the sun for several weeks, so the darker months are the easiest time. Darker skin has more active pigment cells and marks more easily, so treatments are chosen and timed for your skin type.
